How time flies – even if you are not having fun! It is Friday again, and I have barely had time to do the things I have set out to do on Monday. Is it just me, or is a work week shorter than it was a couple of years ago? It does not feel like 5 days anymore, more like 2.79 days. Is age catching up with me, am I less energetic, do I spend more time to complete a task or goal, am I working with less competent people that has to support me? Questions, questions, and very few answers.
In my daily rat race I sometimes wonder if it is at all realistic to set goals. Why bother, there is just not enough time to achieve any of them? To add insult to injury, other people are demanding my time, almost like parasites, doing very little without my input, decision or supervision. Can they please just go away! Do what you have to do, just stop abusing my time. Just let me be – let me do what I have to do – allow me to achieve my goals.
How can Gary achieve more of his goals? Great question Gary! Now please give your subscribers a great answer. Wow, I am tough on myself. Who needs any enemies? Definitely not me.
So what am I going to do to ensure that I achieve more, if not all, of my goals?
- I will employ only the very best staff, ensuring that my support system is world standard, enabling me to reach my own set goals. (One of the key elements of The Perfect System)
- I will write down my goals, and let them bug me, until I have ticked them off as completed.
- I will life a healthier lifestyle, ensuring more energy and higher productivity.
- I will empower my clients, peers and colleagues through mentoring and coaching so that they can do more and better things without my involvement.
- I will only set SMART goals, giving me no room for excuses.
The question is, are we setting SMART goals? Smart goals are: Specific, Measurable, Actionable, Realistic and Time Sensitive.
What are you going to do to ensure achievement of your smart goals? Maybe you can help Gary with more suggestions? And please do enjoy the weekend! You need the rest so that you may achieve your goals next week.
